Pimlico Race Course Black Eyed Susan Friday 5/17/13
I am heading down to Baltimore today. If you will be at the race track tomorrow and want to meet up contact me vis twitter or email. Looks like rain is in the forecast for tomorrow and thats not good. Hopefully the weather holds and we get a day as beautiful as today. Decent card here today with big fields but not alot of start power especially for a day as big as this. Lets see if we can cash some winners. I think the Early pick 4 (5 thru 8) will pay better than the late one.I like Emollient to win the Black Eyed Susan at a short price . I like Sensible Lady in race 11 and Summer of Fun in Race 13. These 3 stand out to me. Good luck and hit them hard.

Belmont Pasrk Thursday 5/16/13
Belmont Park Thursday 5/16/13
Yesterday produced a couple of winners including my bet of the day the Thinker in the 7th and top choice Teaks North in the 8th but the 9th betrayed me again and I was knocked out of the pick 4 by a fifty dollar horse. Some frustration but nothing too blatant. Today there are a few in here that I like at decent prices including Treasured Pin Number and Night Officer if he opts out of the Jim Mckay turf Sprint on the Black Eyed Susan card, although next Question will be a tough customer.
This will be the last day of Belmont for the week and I will be shifting gears to Pimlico for the Black Eyed Susan and the Preakness.I also will not be posting on Sunday as I return from Baltimore extremely hungover i presume. Good luck and hit them hard.
Race 1
While my top two apear to be best on paper I liked Isntlovegrands last race and think he can improve off of that and has run well on the turf in the past.
2 Tight End Touchdown

5 Isnt Love Grand

Race 2
Treasured adds blinkers ,switches to surface he is bred for has a bullet work out and Luis Saez remains aboard. Ilike the 10-1 ML and will take a shot. Sweet Potato has been working great on the turf for Todd Pletcher and should improve first time out for new barn. Barbie Wire tries the turf for Chad Brown for the first time and being a daughter of Tapit this one will have no problem with the switch.
3 Treasured
1 Barbie Wire
4 Sweet Potato
Race 3
A terrible race but Epic Legend ran well on the dirt in maiden breaker . Second Place finisher came back to win next out . Toss the turf effort where he had trouble and was routing on the grass. Back to his game and gets an inside draw. Tweet Me may not like the slop and did no running in last while taking a big class drop. Rider switch on Dream of Scipio draws my interest. not sold on #5 In Todd We Trust ability to get in the winner circle so I choose others despite the fact he may very well run in the money. Prefer others as win candidates.

Pin Number gets back on track after year long layoff but Englehart has been able to get these types back fit and this one likes the track Ill take a shot at a big price. There is plenty of speed in here to set up for this one who will come from off the pace. Our Entourage stalks and pounces on these at a short price. but why is this 350K Street Cry colt being given up for used Hinda ?

#7 Litigate and #2 Island Sunset exit the same race and Litigate blew past after Island Sunset dueled on the front. Both of those have faced better and I like their chances. Induce will have a few to contend with on the front end including TizMas who ships up from Parx and is 1 for 1 at BEL.

Immitable Romanee looks to be the one to beat at short odds. Schillerette just seems wrong on the dirt and gets back to the surface where her namesake did most of his heavy lifting. Yes its Pink has won her last two and is only getting better. Frosty Bay feels like a longshot who can do some damage here. First turf effort in a while was a good one where she closed into soft fractions to win and Luzzi and Schettino are 29% when they team up.

Next Question second off the layoff is the speed of speeds ,especially if Pacific Ocean isn’t fit or doesn’t take to the lawn. Night Officer is cross entered in the Jim Mckay turf sprint at Pimlico and if he runs here will benefit from a strong pace and a great turf rider.

Be aware that the weather in NY doesn’t look good and it may rain. If the track comes up wet and they go off the turf I will try to update throughout the day. Hopefully the racing does remain on the turf because there are a few really good grass races today including the Good reward which features Sky Blazer and teaks North. I will be doing the anti rain dance in my living room and hoping for the sun to shine through. Good luck and hit them hard.

#1 El Genio at 2-1? The Rosario mania needs to subside a bit here. In this bunch a firster can win for sure but I’m not taking a short price on a horse bought for 6K

A solid group of maidens with some real solid pedigrees.Michael Mareina sends out Handwoven and this trainer is deadly first out and with limited starters puts up big numbers at Belmont. Judmonte Farms and Bill Mott send out Assured who has been working real well. This son of Empire Maker may be a good one.

I am swinging for the fences here with West Bay Road who took money in debut and 2nd start last year but maybe just wasn’t ready as a two year old. Now all grown up at 3 maybe this one is sitting on a big race at a big price. Jacobson is too eager to get rid of Economic Forecast after claiming for 30k runs once in slop and was not a factor. Now comes back for almost half the price . Not a positive sign for me. North Ocean is also a huge class drop here but Weaver must be respected with Blinkers coming off .

The coupled entry wil be tough in here with two top jocks aboard Margano had to go wide on both turns and put in a late bid to get 3rd last out. Malibu Way is 3rd off the layoff for Christophe Clement. Westside Corral is a horse for the course. With 5 1st or 2nd place finishes in 9 starts here. The X Factor is the G! winner shipping from Chile. This one has races against Omayad who has come to the U.S and run in some big races including the Manhattan last year on Belmont Stakes day. Clement usually has them prepared first time in North America so i expect a god showing. Teak North is a graded stakes winner that will look to take them wire to wire. With the presence of a few other speeds in here that may pave the way for Hyper who is coming third off the layoff for Chad Brown and the ultra classy Sky Blazer who has not yet been able to get over the hump.

Its Mothers day so I wont be spending too much time updating today. I spent the day with my mother yesterday and it was great to see her as always. Life goes by so quick and we tend to take things for granted. Never forget where you came from. Abraham has been facing good competition and bobbled the break in the Illinois Derby and should be tough here as well. Saint Vigeur must be respected as well as #1 Freedom Child . I caught the early pick 4 yesterday for $296 when Johannesburg Smile scratched and was given the post time favorite Mine Over Matter for another .50 cent increment . I was denied a chalky chance at the late pick 4 when i left Tenango off my tickett who won for fun We are back on the turf for races 5 and 6 here. Given the yielding turf I am also going to use #5 Draw Two. This one may have been my top choice, especially since but Catsellano opts to ride other Chad Brown horse, Snake Pit. so I am thinking this one will need a race off the layoff. #3 Stormy Len took a lot of money in turf debut but had trouble on the first turn . Johnny V. remains and this one should run much better at decent odds. #9 Baker Street has the breeding to run well on turf and was a 200K Street Cry purchase. My solid streak continued on Sunday when I hit the late Pick 4 with a dead heat and had both horses. It paid $475 between the both of them on a $63 Play A few of you contacted me and said you caught it and I’m glad we could cash. The track is soaked today after the big rain storm we had through the morning and they are off the turf out at Belmont. Keep an eye on the drying track as it could become a concrete highway if the rain does not start up again. Big Sandy dries out quickly. Good luck and hit them hard.

A few big scores yesterday really made for a memorable day of racing for me despite losing in the first leg of the Pick 4 on a $160 ticket…ouch!. A small trifecta in race one, a decent ti fecta in race 2 in which my top four rounded out a real nice super, a big trifecta in race 7 and a huge trifecta in the derby to cap off a great day. In race 7 I boxed my top 3 in the first two spots and went all in the third and I got lucky when Holiday Soiree beat out Jamaican Smoke to get up for third and give me $830 on a $42 investment. I came back to reality quickly however when I left off Stephanie’s Kitten to start the Pick 4. Then Revolutionary got up inside for third and with long shot Golden Soul finishing 2nd my 3,4,8,9,16 trifecta box returned $1734 despite the favorite being on top. It only takes one.
As for the derby itself I thought Rosario showed a lot of patience staying that far back early and confidently got his horse going at the right time. Until proven otherwise More than Ready is not a classic distance sire. Golden Soul is skipping the Preakness and waiting for Belmont. Seems to me like this horse is tailor made for the mile and a half and his one speed style reminds me of Drosselmeyer. Ill be at the Preakness in two weeks and I hope we can get Orb to NY with a triple crown threat.
As for today we have 10 races in the spring version of the NY stallion series. A great card full of state breds so we quickly turn the page from the derby and get back on the horse. Good luck and hit them hard.
